Herbs for the Heart - Fu Xiao Mai (浮小麦)
Fu Xiao Mai is both sweet and cold in nature. It causes asthenia-Heat symptoms and restrains sweating. In general applications, Fu Xiao Mai is fried in a dry wok until light brown before boiled with other herbs.
Fu Xiao Mai Soup(浮小麦虚汗汤)
Ingredients:
38g of Fu Xiao Mai
15g of Long Gu
10 red dates
15g of dried oysters
19g of Dao Gen Xu
1/4 piece of dried tangerine peel
150g of pork shin
12g of Bei Qi
Instructions:
1. Rinse pork shin and wash all ingredients. Place them in a claypot.
2. Add water and boil soup. Reduce to low heat and simmer for 3 hours. Season with salt and serve.
Benefits:
It tonifies the blood, stops sweating, helps cure diabetes and alleviates asthenia-heat symptoms.
Other Cooking Practices:
1. For people with Qi-asthenia in heart and spleen, night sweat: add Huang Qi, oyster and Ma Huang Root to the recipe.
2. For people with Yin-asthenia in heart and night sweat, add Mai Dong, Wu Wei Zhi and Di Gu Pi to recipe.
3. For people with dryness in the internal organs, nervous prostration: add jujubes and fried liquorice root to the recipe.
Warning:
People, who have Damp-coldness, should not drink this soup.
